I got the "A couple of poor..." book some time ago. I started reading it, but the story was totally dominated by its form - so vulgar and disturbing that I put the book back on the shelf.
The action takes place in Poland, but the story is universal. A couple of strangers meet and get stone at the party. They are having fun together, terrorizing people and pretending that they are poor Romanians. Their behavior can be scary, especially to those who can recognize themselves in them. The 'trip' seems to have no end but slowly turns into disaster as they lose control over their situation.
The title roles were fantastic; the actors performed with lots of energy and were great at playing both terrifying and tender. It didn't bother me that the old Polish grandma was played by a young Asian man and a countryside bartender by a punk, black girl. I bet Maslowska must be very happy with this interpretation.
