Père-Lachaise
Cimetière du Père-Lachaise was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804, as a solution to the problem of overcrosding in the city's cemeteries following the Revolution. Some of the most visited graves are: Jim Morrison, Maria Callas, Frédéric Chopin, Edith Piaf. Oscar Wilde's grave's visitors traditionally kiss with lipstick. Wilde's grave, designed by Jacob Epstein, was vandalized and its prominent penis was removed. The cemetery is divided into 97 divisions. www.pere-lachaise.com
