Cimetière du Père-Lachaise was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804, as a solution to the problem of overcrosding in the city's cemeteries following the Revolution. Some of the most visited graves are: Jim Morrison, Maria Callas, Frédéric Chopin, Edith Piaf. Oscar Wilde's grave's visitors traditionally kiss with lipstick.
